Hello Julie.
My G grandmother died suddenly in 1895 whilst my grandfather was still a
very young child. I first found the death certificate from the GRO index
which gave the cause of death. The death certificate also mentioned that
the cause of death was determined by the coroner (then as now sudden
unexpected deaths resulted in an inquest) and I then found the inquest
records in the archives at the County Records Office. This is the route I
suggest that you follow.
Keith

Subject: EXMINSTER ASYLAM - Harry Winson, Warden
Greetings all,
My Great Uncle Harry WINSON was born at Rewe (Exeter area) approx 1882, he
became a baker then joined the Kings Dragoon Guards and went to the Boar
War. Upon his return he became a Warden at Exminster Asylam where he met a
tragic end (apparently as the result an an attack by an inmate).
An older sister Annie Gribble Winson lived at Exminster in a house called
"Win-Low-Son" with another sister, possibly Fanny.
Annie is burried at Silverton with her parents, Fanny and Ephraim.
Can anyone please tell me how I can confirm or find out more about Harry
Winson please?
Many thanks,
Julie
