It depends on the area, and to a lesser extent whether you are
looking at the fiche or CD transcription as opposed to the original census
pages.

The same sort of thing is found in the 1891 census where there
really was no address other than "somewhere in the parish" for many country
districts.
In the 1891, at least the Enumerator (in such districts) wrote an address
for the first household of each page.
Following these through against an old map one can develop an
impression of the route that the Enumerator followed and therefore a better
idea of just where-abouts the family may have lived.

(You may have to go past five or more "neighbours" to find the top
of a page with an address ...)
