The term Greenwich Pensioner may well indicate that the individual was a
naval commissioned officer or warrant officer. Greenwich Hospital
Out-Pensions were paid from 1814 to a limited number of Captains, Commanders
and Lieuenants. Greenwich Hospital Pensions were paid to some commissioned
and warrant officers from 1871.
