Hello List,

I've recently found information on Thomas Gay Smith who I believe is related to my tree. I'm wondering if there is anyone else out there who may be related to him. Here is what I've found out:

Thomas Gay Smith born Oct 19, 1825, bapt. Sept 20, 1825 by Rev. James Way at Welcombe, Devonshire. Parents (this is not proven, but the dates and other info fit) Philip Smith and Eleanor Gay. There is a record for these three being buried in Morwenstow, Cornwall which is not all that far from Welcombe.

Thomas ended up in South Australia in 1850 after being a sailor. While in Australia he was married twice, first wife unknown, second wife Mrs. E. Davey nee Botham. The reason I want to trace him is someone connected to my Sanders line which connects to my Gay line had a death notice for him in their family papers here in Canada. I believe his mother Eleanor Gay is the sister of my ggggrandmother Mary Gay. I've listed the Gay family below.
