Hello Barbara,
Welcome to the list.
What would really help would be if you gave more information - from your
message, we can't tell what type of searches you might need. Let the list know
what you have, what you are looking for, and, often most important, what
resources you have already explored, where you have looked.
It's not clear whether you're new just to this list, or to family history in
general. If the latter, a useful place to start is see
http://www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html - a lot of basic information - censuses,
certificates etc., by Roy Stockdill. It was written originally for Yorkshire
researchers but is relevant to all of England & Wales. Other essential reading
is the Devon section of Genuki - you'll find the URL in your official welcome
message.
There's a lot more, but let us know where we need to point you...
HTH
Jo Taylor

> Hello everyone,
> My name is Barbara and I live in N. Yorkshire. I am
trying to find information on my late fathers family. He was born in Plymouth. I
would like to find as much info as possible, and if anyone knows of any body who
does look ups, either in their spare time or professionally, I would appreciate
it if you could let me know. The family I am looking for is called WILLIAMS.(
1800's ) I will pass on the info I have if I get any replies.
