I am a direct descendant of the SHAMBROOKS of Devon....my earliest recorded
SHAMBROOK having married a certain SUSANNAH WATKINS in Ilfracombe on 12th.
November, 1700. Subsequent SHAMBROOKS move to various places e.g.
Little Hempston, Berry Pomeroy, Westdown, Stoke Damerel, Peter Tavey,
Fremington, and eventually moving farther afield e.g. to Jersey in the
Channel Islands, to Gloucestershire,
Somerset, Dorset, Hampshire.
My mother was born a SHAMBROOK and I am in touch with certain cousins who
still bear the SHAMBROOK name.
Please get in touch with me.....I think we could possibly exchange quite a
bit of family

> Hello Listers
> I am researching the SHAMBROOK family of Fremington.
> The entry in the 1881 Census is as follows:
> 3 Adams Cottages, Fremington:
> Henry SHAMBROOK M 51 Farm Labourer
> Mary Ann SHAMBROOK M 49
> Lucy SHAMBROOK U 13
> Frederick SHAMBROOK U 7
> Ann ADAMS M/law W 71
> Would someone who has access to the 1871 Census for that area please check
it to see if they had other children before Lucy.
> I've checked the St Catherine's House Index for the 8 years before Lucy's
d. of b. but have yet to find the marriage of Henry and Mary Ann.
