Hi Ken.
Given the fact that Canada wasn't a country until 1867, he must have been
born in either Upper or Lower Canada (the present provinces of Ontario and
Quebec). I believe that the 1871 census for Canada is indexed. You could
looking up the webpage for the Ontario Genealogical Society. They may be
able to help you.
Regards...Tim

Subject: William Abraham Burton
I am searching for my Great Grandfather William Abraham Burton, who was
born in Canada around 1836 or 37, I don't know where in Canada. I got this
information from the 1881 British Census.
Sometime between when he was born, and married, which was the 3/12/1873
in East Stonehouse Devon England, he came to England most likely Plymouth
in Devon. He married Eliza Jane Hurley (nee Blackwell) in East Stonehouse,
Devon England. His father who signed his wedding certificate, was called
Abraham Burton.
He sometimes goes under the name of Abraham only.
What I need to know is where in Canada He was born, and when.
