My GALLEY ancestors lived in Bristol for many, many years; I'm just
beginning to trace their "pre-Bristol" years. One probable family member is
listed in the 1851 Bristol census as:

GALLEY Frederick Assistant 20 Torrington

So, I'm speculating they lived in Torrington in the 1830's, prior to moving
to Bristol. I'm told there are three towns in Devon with Torrington in
their name: Greater Torrington, Black Torrington, and Little Torrington
(why is nothing easy?).

His parents were Thomas Galley and Susannah Eagle, both born c 1800 in
Gloucestershire.

If the GALLEY name gets anyone's attention, I would love to hear from you.
