This is a long shot. I'm looking for Maria YOUNG, who according to her entry on the 1881 census was born around 1843 in Devon. Her occupation is listed as a 'Mangler'. I have her Marriage cert. from when she married Frederick Charles BUNKER, in London, 9th September 1869. Her Father is listed as James YOUNG, Soldier, deceased. A witness was W I (or J) Young.
This is proving to be my brickwall.
I have searched for her register at birth, but with such a popular name, and such little info, I've just stared at whole columns of Maria/Mary Youngs from Devon born around that time. Do I just have to be patient and wait for the 1901 census to be made available, hoping that firstly she lived that long and secondly she recorded where in Devon she was born?
Here's hoping.
Susie.
