Greetings,

Please don't let the list react too much on these issues. Obviously
ANYONE has the right to ask for help.

We have apparently over one thousand subscribers but there is never
any guarantee that any particular enquiry will be answered, for a variety of
valid reasons.
Some of us consider it "better" to have a "standard reply" that we
can mail out explaining, eg census or civil register, look-up problems
rather than have the enquirer thinking that "nobody can be bothered to help
at all".

As you would have seen from our reports during the past week, Kaye
and I have had more favourable reactions to our "standard reply" mailings
than grumbles!

I note that Dilys did not protest - at least she now is aware of the
problems of look-ups in unindexed census.
- but who else offered to help her?

Best wishes,

(PS I am seeing if there is anything I can help with!)
