Dear Joan
Thanks for your email Alexander's father's occupation was giving as a labourer on his birth certificate and as a quarryman in the 1851 census. So you could be right about him working for one of the mines. Does anyone know if any records exist for the Okehampton Consol mine or Red-A-Ven Brook?
