That's the one! The north east of Cambridgeshire is the area known as the
Fens, low-lying marsh land until drained in the 17th century. Ely is on a
small area of higher-ground that used to be, effectively, an island. It
used to have separate status as a county, but lost that many years ago
when it merged with Cambridgeshire.
