This is my first week on the internet, and after two years 'offline'
searching I am hoping someone will be able to help me with the following.
Mary Newman Lister, according to parish records was baptised Oct. 25th. 1834
in Plympton St. Mary, Devon. Father William Lister, Mother Peggy,
other children William Henry, Ephraim, John Newman, and Ann Eliza.
In 1860 she signed a legal document, which would indicate that she was not
married. Her age then would be 26.
After 1860 the trail goes cold. She does not appear in the 1881 census, and
a check on 'Marys' born in Plympton St. Mary in 1834 shows 4. However using
childrens ages their mothers were married before 1860. Other facts rule out
the remainder. The National Index draws a blank for the rest of the country
as well.
I think she either married or possibly emigrated, if so, probably to the USA
Cannot find a marriage which fits and no sign of a death. Also no grave in
the Dissenters cemetary, Plympton St. Mary, where the rest of her family are
buried.
Hope someone can help.
David
