This is slightly off the main thread but would certainly
knock Stuart Moverly for 6(quaint olde worlde expression-vbg) in
the course of his daily wanderings around.

I have approximately 100 business letters from the period 1680-95.
These are mainly from the Canary Islands and are usually addressed;

Merchant of London

That would set our present day postal service on a merry chase.
