Hi

I wonder if anyone can add any information to the little I have been able to
obtain without actually going to Exeter.

I am interested in Abraham BERE born Stoodleigh about 1821, his wife Jane,
also born Stoodleigh, and their children Thomas (b Stoodleigh in 1847) and
the rest all born in Sandford William (1849) Robert (1850) Matthew (1856),
Alice (1862) Ada (1866) and Albert.

I have found Abraham as a farmer at North Creedy in Sandford in the 1851
census. I have found Jane and most of the children in the 1881 census: they
must have scattered after the death of Abraham, sometime earlier. There are
some other Bere families in 1851, but I can't connect them to mine. I
haven't been able to see anyone in Sandford in 1861 -- but I found the
census at the FHB very hard to read.

Can anyone tell me anything about this family either before 1851 or between
1851 and 1881: such as the parents of Abraham and Jane. I would also like
to know more about Albert BERE. I have a photograph of him, but there is no
evidence that he ever existed. I have just assumed he is a brother of my g
grandmother Alice Bere.

Thanks to anyone who can tell me anything.
