I'm new to this list, so should start out by posting my interests:
Hardy from Thurlestone
Hitchins from Plympton
King from Buckland Monachorum (Horrabridge)
Could anyone please tell me whether there are MI's posted anywhere on the
web, or in print somewhere for Plympton/Plymouth/Horrabridge or
Thurlestone.
My gg grandmother Elizabeth Hitchins (wife of Martin/Marten) had children
between 1831 and 1845, the last one born in Plympton. She died sometime
between 1845 and 1851. My gg grandfather is shown as "widower" living at
7 South Devon Place, Plymouth. I am seeking the final resting place of
my gg grandmother - my hopes are that her husband Martin will have been
eventually buried alongside his wife. But I can't find them!
Also, the LDS has been great in filming some records, but not the ones I
need. Will I have to hire a researcher to find the King family (father
John born in approx 1799 in Buckland Monachorum) who was a miller in
Horrabridge according to the 1851 census) and details of his birth and
his parents names. The Family History Centre can order films but they
end in the 1780's, which is too early to find John's birth and his
parents names.
Finally, the Thurlestone parish registers haven't been filmed, much to my
dismay - again, will I have to hire a researcher to find my Hardys (pre
census unfortunately) or can anyone suggest other alternatives?
Thanks for reading the above.....
