I'm a first time submitter to these lists but long time lurker. You'll
see shortly why I'm sending this to the Cornish list as well as the
Devon list. I sent the following to soc.genealogy.surnames.canada a
while back.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking for information on my ggg grandfather Thomas Clark b.c. 1799 in
Cornwall, England. He moved to PEI, Canada with 3 of his sons; Richard
b.c.1816, William b.c. 1820 (my gg grandfather) and George b.c. 1830 who
were all born in Cornwall as well.
They sailed to PEI, Canada as far as I can tell about 1830-1845.
Richard settled in the Hill's River area of PEI(western end) and
William, George and Thomas settled in the Charlottetown / Charlottetown
Royalty area.
Thomas was married to Grace Colwell of Cornwall, Eng.
Richard married Sarah Easter of PEI
William married Elizabeth Easton of PEI
George married Rebecca Hancock

Any info would be appreciated
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have since been to the local FHC, a wonderful place I must say, and
found out from the IGI that 2 of the sons William and George were
christened methodists in Holsworthy, Devon. Also found christenings for
other siblings in Holsworthy.
Thomas - 21 Feb., 1822
Mary - 13 Jul, 1826
John - 26 Apr, 1829
Grace - 30 May, 1833

Now what I don't know is were they born in Cornwall and Holsworthy may
have been the closest place to have the christenings or were they
actually born in Devon.

Have also learned that GGGgrandmother Grace (Colwell) Clark was
christened in Bradworthy,Devon on 30 Nov, 1800.

Anyway to keep an already long post from becoming longer I'll just ask
for your help with any help/ info on my Clarks.
Also critiques of this post gratefully accepted.

Hoping to hear from "English cousins",

Scott "still learning" Johnston
Ottawa, Canada but really in P.E.I. Canada in my heart.
