The problem with our web server has now been cured - I hope permanently. It
required switching the server to another computer, so though the server's
"name", i.e. "www.cs.newcastle.ac.uk" remains unchanged, the underlying
numerical Internet address has changed, and this might take a little while
to propoagate through the computers that run the Internet, though I'm
informed that this should be a matter of hours rather than days
