Message Board Post:
My ancestor, known as: Wylia Dever, Wiley Devan, Willie Davar, Willy Devar, Wylie Davar, & Wylie Daver ... was born 1816 in Tennessee. He married Rosina Wisely 1837 in Monroe Co., Indiana. They had the following children:
David Devar, David C. Dever, David Devon, David M Daver, David M. Davar, Davied Devars born 1839 Monroe Co., Indiana. In 1862 he married Nancy Ann Fee in Iowa. His home alternated between Vinton Post Office, Polk Twp., Benton Co., Iowa and Polk Twp., Benton Co., Iowa .... I believe a matter of few miles.
Martha J. Devar / Daver born 1841-1842 in Polk Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana. She is on the 1850 census for Polk Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana and on the 1860 census for Washington Twp., Linn Co., Iowa. I have no idea of what happened to her after that.
Peter M. Daver who was born about 1844 and is on the 1850 census for Polk Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana. I don't know any more about him.
(my direct ancestor) Jesse Daver, Jesse Devan, Jesse Devar, Jesse Dever, Jesse E. Devers, Jure Devers, Jesse Devers ... was born 1849 in Polk Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana. He is on the 1850 census for Polk Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana and on the 1860 census for Washington Twp., Linn Co., Iowa. The 1870 census through 1930 shows him in Benton Co., Iowa (just next to Linn Co.) with his family. His wife was Sarah M. Way, of Center Point, Polk Twp., Linn Co., Iowa.
The patriarch of the family was a Jesse Davar who was born around 1780 in Virginia and died 1860 in Monroe Co., Indiana.
I don't know that my information has answered the 2002 rootsweb posting, but I hope it gives some food for thought. If anyone can identify this family, it's ancestors or descendants, I'd like to exchange information.
I'd very much like to locate a male descendant of Jesse Davar who is willing to participate in the DNA research available and determine a bit more about this family.
