Hi Barbara,
Let me know if you find anything on David Denny in Canada. Possibly
Stowe/Sitowe/Stow or anything similar around 1859/1861. I am still trying.

Still trying to help the folks researching Dennys in Canada.

George Denny was in Bruce, Canada West in the 1861 Census of Canada

He apparently lived in the City of Victoria, British Columbia.

In the 1871 Census of British Columbia a William Denny is listed as
head of the house with 3 males 5 females, Children 1 male, 3 female.
William is listed as the manager of Victoria House and they lived on
Pandora St.

There was a William Denny married to M. Gertrude who died 1939 in

Another William Denny is shown married to Anne, Beloved Wife of
William Denny who d. May 28, 1877, Aged 44 yrs. William died Feb.
9th, 1905 at age 75 in Victoria, BC.
You can view her tombstone from Ross Bay Cemetery, Victoria, BC. at

There was another Col. William Denny b. 1804 d. 1886 in Canada who was
an artist. He was a British Officer-Artist with the 71st Regiment
serving 15 yrs. in Canada.
He m. Eweretta Richardson (d. 1874) in 1847 and through her family
inherited property in the Mingan District.
He became a colonel in 1854.
His second wife was Rachel Arthur (d. 1939), who later became the wife
of Col. Sir Thomas Polson.
The National Archives of Canada has a collection of his works and
papers. I am not sure if they are online.
