Thanks for reply - this may well be the Robert Dakers I am looking for. I am in the process of sorting out my late father's things, so I will hopefully come across his family history notes. I will keep you posted. By the way, I live in Troon, but grew up in Kilmarnock. My father and grandfather Dakers were both from Kilmarnock - maybe a connection there.
