An ABADEE in New South Wales, Australia has written to ask if his name is a
variant of ours--he has traced it back to the early 1800s in England. It is
not Huguenot as his ancestry is Jewish. I did a very brief web search and
found:

Mordecai ABADEE b. 19 Feb 1828, son of Jonah ABADEE married Julia BENJAMIN,
d. 1841, of Middlesex, London, a dressmaker. They hae four daughers, Leah
1863, Hannah in 1866, Rachel in 1868 and Joyce in 1871.
