Mamaw,
I do not know where Hester was born except for the census of Kentucky and
Indiana where she lived between 1850 and 1860. She has an interesting part
to her name though she has the initials S.C. or S.?. I have tried to find
families who named their children with initials. She was born in 1826
according to her marriage certificate I found in a courthouse in New
Albany, Indiana. She married my GG grandfather(George W. Reno) who died
very young and left her a widow with 3 boys, the boys after 1860 were raised
in the Shakers Orphange in Kentucky. George W. Reno had a rather shady
past, he was a riverboat captain and seems he had another wife when he
married Hester. Hester remarried after George died. The marriage is
documented in the Filson library to James R. Johnson. I have looked
everywhere for her after that and have found nothing. Thank you for your
interest.
