Haywood Co., NC was formed from Buncombe that bordered Burke. Perhaps the Crisps family moved westward from Burke, through Buncombe & Haywood, then into TN.

In 1810 Burke NC
Joel Crisp
Chesley Crisp
John Crisp
Wm Crisp
Micajah Crisp

1810 Buncombe NC
Bray Crisp
Isaac Crisp

1820 Burke NC
Bennet Crisp
Micajah Crisp
Solomon Crisp
Chesley Crisp
Hiram Crisp

1820 Buncombe NC
Isaac Crisp

1820 Haywood NC
Elexander Crisp
Gray (Bray) Crisp (of 1810 Buncombe?)
Jene Crisp
Wm Crisp

The earliest record of a Crisp I can find in Blount Co., TN is in 1821 when an Able Crisp b. 1790-1800 (allegedly Burke NC) md a Polly Ann Porter.

1830 Burke NC
Chesley Crisp
Bennet Crisp
Hyram Crisp
Joseph Crisp
Solomon Crisp
Micajah Crisp
Wm Crisp

1830 Buncome NC
Able Crisp

Chesley Crisp (Jr) b.1805/1811 & mother or Stepmother Sarah (Prock) Crisp appears on the 1837 Blount Co., TN Tax.
The likely left Burke Co., NC sometime after 1830. They both appear again on the 1840 Blount TN Census.

What time frame was the Sherrels/Shearls in Haywood before they were in Blount TN?
