This is confusing for sure. I am going to talk with a historian who is a friend of mine in Friendsville,Tn. and see what he knows if anything. I have been tracking the Crisp from Shecoah area of North Carolina because the Sherrill family, whom one of Mahalas daughters married later, also lived near them in Unitia Tn. Surely someone must know something. I also noticed that a Sarah Crisp 75,b. in N.C. lived near them in Unitia. Mahala named a daughter Sarah also so I wonder if this is Christy's mother? I found a Sarah Dwyer who married a James Crisp 3March1795 in N.C. but so far, that is the only Sarah marr. Crisp in that time frame I can find.Christy and Mahala also named a son James so perhaps these were Christy's parents? I do know that Jackson Crisp, son of Mahala was abt. 5'7" tall, dark complexion, black hair, black eyes. This don't really mean anything except that they could be listed as B or I. Jackson was my gggrandfather. I am going to some cemeteries in Unitia and see if I!
can find where Christy was buried. My gmother told me that a Mike or Ike Crisp went to Ok. and marr. an Indian? I do have a tintype of him but I have not found him exactly in a particular family. If you find HIM,maybe that could be a link with Christy of Blount Co.,Tn. I think his name was Ice who lived in Blount Co. with Agnes,Alsy,Joel,Nelson,Vicey who lived near Christy and Mahala. If you check out Crisp of Blount Co. in 1840-1850,there were not all that many, and people traveled in clans,so some of them have to be connected. I may put an ad in the local paper and see if anyone knows Mahala's last name.
