My brickwall...my gggrandmother, Martha Cox, listed on the Limestone Co., Alabama, 1850 census, born in Ky and married to Rev James Shelton.
Her children are listed as Claiborne P., Caroline (Mankins), Orra (Hester), Amy, James A, Mark, William A, Martha (Williams), Mary J ( Basham), John Hunter. The record states that all the children were born in Alabama. If this is true then James and Martha were in Alabama in 1826 when Claiborne P was born. Claiborne Permanus, married to Caroline Harwell, is my great grandfather . There was a Permanus Cox in Giles Co Tn at that time. I have thought they might be "kin", since the name Permanus is kind of unusual.
Actually, Martha and James are brick walls. Any help would be appreciated. If I could get linages from families of those who lived in the area of Limestone Co Al and Giles Co Tn in 1850 maybe I could put some names together! Anything and everything would/might help!
Thanks, Martha Shelton Truitt.
