Hi folks,



There is a scammer/spammer making his rounds on the lists named Robert
Cowan (and sometimes has gone as Mathew Cowan). He's basically trying
to sell some books on Scot/Irish roots, but it's known that many of
these books and publications (some are just brochures) are available
from the Library of Congress a lot cheaper and even free than he is
selling them for.



Please ignore him and also point him out to your list moderator,
whether it's me or another list. For those of us who manage lots of
lists, such as myself, we don't always catch these things. I have
taken precautions with the list to require my approval for every new
subscriber, unfortunately, banning his address won't work since he
changes them more than a person changes socks, so that is the best I
can do is to require approval. Rootsweb is aware of the situation and
trying to stay on top of it to ban him from the system, but with his
changing addresses so frequently, he sometimes slips through.
