Hi All. I haven't seen much activity on this list from subscribers, so I
wanted to try and get something going. If you want to just sit back and look
at the posts, that's fine, but just remember that it may mean that a relative
is on the list but you won't find each other because just maybe they are
sitting back too. it's definitely to your advantage to post your line :). We
do not have a large list, only 21 subscribers. I'll start us off with my line:

My line starts with an unknown Coventry for Generation 1. I'm in contact with
5 others descended from the same person, and we all believe him to be Jacob
Coventry, husband of Jane (maiden name unknown) as the ages and locations all
fit as well as a few other interesting coincidences. Whoever this man was, he
had 3 children:

Generation 2:
Mary Coventry b. about 1810 m. John Meek (I have no further info, but a contact
with this line)

Jemima Coventry b. about 1820 in OH (according to census records) m. John
Bartlet Jan 17, 1850 in Richland Co., IL.

William Coventry (my line) b. abt 1824 in PA according to the 1860 census m.
Elizabeth Stinchacum February 11, 1846 Richland Co., IL d. 1871. Elizabeth b.
abt 1826 in OH according to the 1860 census very soon before her husband
William. She was alive in 1870, but died before William.

Generation 3:
Children of Jemima Coventry and John Bartlet:
Sue Bartlett
Jacob Bartlett
Jane Bartlett
The names of the youngest children are part of the coincidences I mentioned
earlier. I have no further info on this line

Children of William Coventry and Elizabeth Stinchacum:
Nettie J. Coventry m. Edward F. Finn October 6, 1884 Richland Co., IL (no
further info)

John W. Coventry b. abt 1848 in IL according to the census (no further info)

Emily A. Coventry b. abt 1851 Richland Co., IL according to 1860 census, m.
Richard J. Wright Feb 13, 1870 Richland Co., IL (no further info)

Sionilli/Illinois Coventry b. abt 1870 m. Charles Palmer. I have no further
info, but do have a contact descended from this line

William S. Coventry b. February 07, 1855, the identical twin of the next child.
m. Caroline Tredaway Oct 8, 1874 Richland Co., IL (no further info, but I
know he died as an old man, I have his picture and he died a long time after
his twin and was known as Uncle Will by his brothers children. In the 1860
census, both he and his brother were listed as being named Breckinridge and
Buchanon. After doing some historical research, I found that they were running
mates for president. By 1870, the were listed as William and
Sameul...apparently, they decided to change their names :)

Samuel S. Coventry (My line) b. Feb 7, 1855, identical twin of William. m.
Charlotte Black (listed as Sharlotte on the marriage bond) Feb 17, 1878 in
Richland Co., IL d. Nov 10, 1890. Charlotte remarried to a man her
grandchildren called Grandpa Nick and they called her Grandma Nick. Charlotte
was the dauther of Israel Black and Hannah Durr. Charlotte was b. November 30,
1857 Rockcreek, Huntingdon Co., IN and d. July 19, 1942 Richland Co., IL

Harley Guy Coventry b. May 05, 1882 Olney, Richland Co., IL m. Minnie May
Worthey (I'm descended from Minnie's Sister) Dec 24, 1906 Richland Co., IL. He
d. Jun 1963. Harley was a minister.

Jolly Coventry b. May 11, 1886 d. August 15, 1886

Charles Lemuel Coventry (my line) b. January 07, 1884 Olney, Richland Co., IL
m. Effie Almeda Worthey (sister of Minnie who m. Harley) Mar 14, 1908 Newton,
Jasper Co., IL. Charles d. July 14, 1950 in Champaign, Champaign Co., IL. He
was kind of a jack of all trade according to my grandma. She told me that as
she was growing up, he was a carpenter who would move the family all over the
country. They would buy a house and he'd spend a year or so fixing it up and
then sell it and move the family again. By 1934, they were settled in
Champaign and he opened a confectionary downtown. Effie b. February 07, 1889
in either South Muddy or Newton, both in Jasper Co., IL d. Dec 6, 1984 in
Champaign, Champaign Co., IL. She was known as "Gakie" to me and my mom.
Apparently my mom or her sister as a toddler could not say "grandma" and called
her Gakie and the name just stuck. Even grandma (her daughter) called her
Gakie! Mom told me that as a kid, Gakie always kept a candy dish full on her
coffee table and she would always eat them. I met her a few times before she
died, don't realy remember her too well, but I didn inherit her hand-blown
glass lamps which are beautiful. Gakie remarried Walter York, but I'm not sure
of the date. I still remember him, so he must have died around 1980-1982, but
I don't know the exact date. I was probably around 4 or 5 when I met him,
which would be right in there somewhere.

Generation 5:
Children of Charles Coventry and Effie Worthey:
William Berard Coventry b. July 21, 1910 Olney, Richland Co., IL m. Alice
Serena Nov 16, 1935 Oak Park, Cook Co., IL d. Oct 19, 1964 in Fresno, CA.
Alice died in 2000. I think at least some of their children are still living,
but I don't know who any of them are.

Hazel Almeda Coventry b. Aug 2, 1912 Olney, Richland Co., IL m. Francis B.
Painter July 5, 1940 St. Charles, MO d. in 1983. I'm in contact with one of
their children

Opal May Coventry (my grandma) b. Nov 12, 1914 in Olney, Richland Co., IL m.
Frederick Eugene Wilder Nov 12, 1937 in Champaign, Champaign Co., IL d. Sept
17, 2000 in Champaign. Grandpa was an artist and the house that my mom grew up
in and my aunt still lives in is only about 2 or 3 houses away from where
grandpa's parents live. Grandpa was b. April 14, 1911 in Bloomington-Normal,
McLean Co., IL (they were twin cities, he's not exactly sure which city) and d.
Apr 30 2001 in Champaign. They have 3 children and all are still living.
Grandma was known as "Babe" b/c she was the baby of the family, but pictures
I've seen of her in the 1920s (she was flapper!), she really was a babe! hehe.

Well, anyway, I'm looking for anyone descended from any of these lines and I do
have contacts for most of the lines I'm not related to. We have a website for
folks who are related specifically to this line at myfamily.com and pictures,
etc. to share. Please contact me if you are related in any way. Also, please
contact me if you have any idea about the first generation as far as who they
were and your thoughts about them being Jacob and Jane.

Thanks all.

Erin
