My husband and I both grew up in the city (Toronto). Both of us
are/were teachers. On our first Hallowe'en in a rural community, a
group of our students put a dead (natural causes) calf in the trunk/boot
of our 1964 Volkswagen beetle. Fortunately, they made very sure that we
knew about it the following day.
You should have seen the city-slickers try to figure out what to do with
a dead calf! Eventually, on his 40-minute lunch-hour, my husband buried
it in what would be our vegetable garden the following year. He didn't
get it very deep. The following spring we planted tomatoes all around
it, and grew the biggest beefsteak (of course) tomatoes in the township!
