Hi David & List

Well, one thing I know about Western Australia - or Perth, at any rate - is
that everybody turned their lights on to salute John Glenn. I think that
was marvellous!! What a fantastic idea.

As to the America's Cup - Auckland is getting her 'knickers in a knot'
about that. Down here in Wellington we don't take too much notice of all
the hullaballoo and 'hype', but no doubt the excitement will intensify
nearer the time [whenever that is!]

Meanwhile, in this little corner of the world we're preparing to
'celebrate' the 5th November 'Gunpowder Plot' which almost deifies Guy
FAWKES and his fellow-conspirators. [Upper case to add a genealogical
flavour - anybody related to or descended from him? <g>]

Goodness knows why such a far-flung outpost of the Commonwealth - or
anywhere else, for that matter - would be bothering to remember such a
'non-event' from so long ago. Now if they *had* managed to blow up the
Houses of Parliament it would be a different matter!! :-))

Have a good Sunday everybody. [The weekend is almost finished down here!]

Best wishes,

Blanche
