Harry,
I've been researching this story for several years and this is some of what
I've found out.
>He (Doublehead) was reported to be killed in Wayne County, Kentucky in
1807 by a man
>named Mounce (Anyone know his name?), or by Southern Cherokee
Doublehead was killed in 1807 on the Hiwasee in TN by "Vann, Ridge (Major
Ridge) and a third mixed-blood, Alexander Saunders" They attacked
Doublehead in McIntosh's Tavern and "fled the tavern after shooting
Doublehead in tthe head". Ridge and Saunders later found Doublehead in a
nearby barn and Saunders killed Doublehead with a hatchet. This is a
historical fact that you will find in many history books including "Trail
of Tears: The Rise and Fall of the Cherokee Nation" by John Ehle.

>Cherokee Prince?)
There is no such thing as a "Cherokee Princess" (not counting powwow
"Princess'es). I've been researching this story for over a year. I have
Cherokee ancestors from two other lines of my family but discovered no
evidence that Chief Doublehead ever had a daughter named Cornblossom. I
have found references to one or two other Cherokee named Doublehead. If she
existed then she may have been the daughter of one of them.

Jacob Troxell was my ggggrandfather. I've traced my Troxell line back to
him through his son William. Jacob Troxell died on July 01, 1843 in Dekalb
County, Alabama. I have a copy of his Revolutionary War pension file. He
moved around quite a bit. After leaving KY he moved to TN, then Alabama,
then back to TN, then back to Al. where he died in 1843.
