While the newspaper clipping comes from a Rhodesian newspaper sometime
between 1925 and 1955 the origional Crombie family comes from Scotland. I
believe the Hoaten family may also come from here.
Does anyone know anything about any of the names mentioned or know which
other lists or local newspapers I should sned this to?

*Wedding of a One-Time Adelaide Young Lady:*
A quiet, but pretty wedding was solemnised in St. John's Church Bulawayo on
Dec. 22 nd, when *Miss M.E. Crombie (Betty) only daughter of the late
Alexander Crombie and Mrs Hoaten, granddaughter of the late Rev. O. and Mrs.
Cookson and the late A Crombie of Thornton Castle, Kir-Kardinshire, Scotland
was **married to Stuart Clarkson, elder son of the late H. Clarkson of
Reitz, O.F.S. and Mrs. Clarkson of Salisbury.*
The bride was given away by her step-father *Major Hoaten*. Seldom has a
more exquisite little bride knelt at the Altar. She is fair and petite and
as she came up the Aisle to the strains of the Bridal march from Lohengrin
she made an unforgettable picture of radiant happiness. Her dress was of
ivory embossed georgette, ankle length cut on classic lines, the sleeves
close fitting to the elbow, where they were cleverly cut, to form a bouffant
effect, ending in a long tight fitting cuff, which fell over the hand in a
point. Her tulle veil fell to the hem of her skirt, from a close fitting
Juliet cap of pearls, with sprays of orange blossoms over the ears. Tiny
sprigs of white heather were introduced. The latter was sent from
Scotlandby her
*Aunt Miss Eleanor Crombie*. White satin shoes completed a charming
ensemble. She carried a sheath bouquet of white and flesh coloured
gladioli and wore a pearl and gold pendent and necklet, the gift of the
bridegroom. She was attended by one Bridesmaid her *cousin* *Miss Daphne
Bawtree*, who looked very graceful and striking in a smart frock of beige
and coral georgette with a well cut coat of the same material, her hat was a
large picture shape of deep coral pedal straw with transparent brim trimmed
with velvet flowers to tone, she wore shoes of the same colour and carried a
shower of carnations in 2 shades of coral and wore earings and necklace of
pearls the gift of the bridegroom. The bestman was Mr. *Archie Henderson*.
Daphne married Archie
The bride's mother wore a beautiful gown of black with a swagger coat of
gold and red tinsel and black hat trimmed with coloured flowers. *Mrs.
Bawtree* (aunt of the bride) wore a striking frock of black and white with a
severe black hat. *Miss Cookson (another aunt)* wore a well cut frock of
beige and brown striped crepe-de-chine with brown bankok hat.
The bridal procession left the church to the strains of the wedding march
amid showers of rose leaves and confetti. There was no formal reception
owing to the health of the brides mother, but some intimate friends motored
out to Hillside to the resident of *Captain and Mrs. Hough *where the cake
was cut, toasts drunk and a few friendly and happy speeches made. The happy
couple left shortly for Redhouse by car.
