1840 Census, Wilson County, TN, p.287
COLLY, SHEROD 1m20-29, 1m50-59, 1f20-29, 1f50-59

Sumner County is just across the river from Wilson County, so he didn't
move far between 1840 and 1850. He does seem to have lost a wife and
acquired a new one, with children (see my posting of 15 April). The
young man in his 1840 family is the same age as Bette's George Lewis
Hamilton Colley, and I haven't found George anywhere else in TN in
either 1840 or 1850.

Remember that George Colley appeared on the tax list in White County TN
in 1841. There were two deeds involving G. L. Colley in White County in
1842. They are hard to read, but I believe they were contracts to sell
on credit. On April 29 he sold a wagon and four horses to C. C. Dibrell,
and on September 17 he sold a wagon and six horses to H. L. Carrick.
