According to information passed along to me by a longtime Church
researcher, this is the artist's history.
Frederic (note the lack of a "k" at the end of his name) Edwin Church was
b. 4 May 1826 at Hartford CT; d. 7 Apr 1900 at NYC; son of Joseph Church
and Eliza Janes; m. Isabel Mortimer Carnes, b. 10 Nov 1836 at Paris (this
is probably France but could be Ohio), d. 12 May 1899 at NYC.
The Churches had the following children:
Herbert Edwin, b. 29 Oct 1862 in NY, d. 18 Mar 1865.
Emma Frances, b. 22 Oct 1864, d. 26 Mar 1865.
Frederic Joseph, b. 30 Sep 1866 in NYC, d. 27 Aug 1914 at Hurricane AL; m.
Minnie Matilda Isaacson 17 Mar 1913 at Mobile AL; she was b. 12 Aug 1892 at
DePue IL, d. 6 Jan 1958 at Mobile AL.
Theodore Winthrop, b. 22 Feb 1869 at Rome (probably Italy, but could be
NY); d. 27 Mar 1914 at South Orange NJ; m. Amelie A. Vanderkieft.
Louis Palmer, b. 30 Apr 1870 at Hudson NY; d. 8 Nov 1943 at Olana NY; m. 10
Jan 1901 at Lock Haven PA Sally B. Good, b. 22 Jul 1868 at Lock Haven, d.
17 Aug 1964 at Hudson NY.
Isabel Charlotte, b. 17 Jul 1871 at Hudson NY; d. 4 Sep 1935 at Princeton
NJ; m. (1) Jeremiah Sullivan Black, Jr. in 1891 at Washington DC (he was b.
20 Oct 1869 at Lafayette PA and d. Dec 1916 at Baltimore MD) ; m. (2)
Edward Leavitt Howe in 1920.
Frederic Edwin Church was descended, as follows:
Caleb Church (b. 7 Jan 1702 at Hartford; d. 31 May 1760 at Hartford) and
Sarah Barnard, d/o Samuel Barnard and Sarah Williamson.
Caleb Church (b. abt. 1736 Hartford; d. abt. 1807) and Ruth Butler, d/o
Daniel Butler and Hannah Merrill.
Samuel Church (b. 1 May 1758 Hartford; d. 13 Mar 1844 Ogden NY) and Dolly
Joseph Church and Eliza Janes (see above).
