Roberta, you may have this information, but just in case you do not here it is: On November 8, 1798 Joshua & Frances Childress purchased 108 acres of land in Pittsylvania County, VA from Joseph Lynch. Mr. Lynch's land was "on the south side of White Mountain, on the head waters of Falls Creek. This is just North of Danville, VA. Please keep me in mind if you find anything in Pittsylvania.

Jack, No, in the Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder they face north. and in the oldest cemetery in town the stones face east and west. Incidentally, I am going to go to Pittsylvania County, Va. in June to look up my ancestor Joshua Childress if you know of any childress' family who have their family buried there, I would be glad to help document them if they just contact me through Childress family site.

In my various cemetery trips, I've noticed in everyone of them the stones all
face west. Anyone know the reason for this?
