I know practically nothing about my Childresses. In 1820 Tenn.Census I found
in Ruthford County Wm., Major, James & Elizabeth Childress. I was
researching my John Bassham who was also living near Maj. Childress. Then in
the book "Marriage, Death & Legal Notices From Early Ala Newspapers
1819-1893" I found on page 343: "Dec. 19, 1840: Jackson County: Pleasant
Basham, Adm'r of Wm P. Childress reports estate insolvent." Pleasant Basham
is John Bassham's son. I was trying to see if John's wife might have been a
Childress. Her name was Parthenia but referred to as Theny Basham, as
administratrix of estate of John Bassham in 1834 in Jackson Cty. Ala. That
leads me to think they either moved to Ala together or might have been
related. I was hoping someone might help
