Hello, I have discovered some of our Ancestors were born in Switzerland in the 1800's and I am trying to find out how I can gather more information on them.

Jacob felber, born about 1836 in Switzerland, married Katherine (maiden name unknown), she was from Hesse Darmstadt, Germany. I do not know if they were married in Switzerland/Germany or if they were married in the United States. In 1880 the United States Census says that they are living in Tolland Cty, Connecticut USA and have 6 children: John, Elizabeth, Catharine, Jacob, Henry, and Mary.

I found some info on the L.D.S. website and it says:

Felber, Jacob
Christening: 28 FEB 1836 Rothenburg, Luzern, Switzerland
Father: Niclaus Felber
Mother: Barbara Schwier

How do I know if this is the Jacob I am looking for?? Any help is greatly appreciated.
