Five days after arrival would indicate somewhere in New York, not too far
from the docks where the ship landed. The death was probably not recorded by
anyone. Who was it that said the infant died 5 days after arrival? His first
name was most likely Wilhelm. Who changed it to William? These are the only
sources to get you started, if you look merely for the child. The best idea
is to search for the petition for citizenship and the granting of it, then
some other documents concerning the parents.
