My two cents: Idon't think we need the donor's name. In my tree, I am the
donor. However, I stop at my Grandfather. If anyone wants more after him,
they can contact me.
Kathy Wells, I'm going to use you as an example; In her husband's line he is
a Carter via his mother if I remember right, and his father was a Wells, but
they had a Carter relative do the DNA testing. If you check their research,
you will see an excelent job,of documentation on their Carter line. If Kathy
was to remove her posting because the donor's name is not listed, this would
be a wealth of information that would be missing from the group.
Trees like Kathy's as well as others, can help us narrow that search down
for our own families.
Do we need the donor's name? No. We would like to have their input into our
Carter group.

I haven't been reading all this, but I don't know why it's important to have
the donor's name - we're trying to go backwards in time.
My male cousin is interested in what I find out - but I would not place his
name without permission. We share the same connection. My gggrandfather
Carter was also his grandfather's ggrandfather(oh, wow, that's confusing for
a Friday night!). This Male Carter (my cousin), is the last male carter in
our family.

If there is a requirement that the DNA donor be listed, I will leave the
group and withdraw my information. Sorry, but the donors are often here
ONLY because the researcher asked and the donors often don't care about
genealogy. I have just asked another person to do Carter DNA testing and he
will only do it if he remains anonymous. My son doesn't care, but the other
man does.
