Those with an R haplotype or grouping are from the dominant Western European
strain, which generally means, I think, that those Carters are probably
Celtic in origin (as is most of Western Europe, or France, Belgium and the
British Isles) and hence, have the longest history in the British Isles
(perhaps from the time of the last Ice Age). Those from the I haplotype
are the second most common Western European strain, and the origins of these
Carters is Northern Europe (northern Germany and Scandinavia) before getting
to the British Isles (either with the Vikings or the Angles, Saxons, and
Jutes) so they are relative newcomers to the British Isles.

Speaking of newbies, I am looking at the Cookie Cutter chart right
now. And I have the kit number here, N16268 for my husband, Richard
John Carter
Belongs to the group I2b1, and shorthand I-M223 whatever that means.
Hope that you can add his to the chart too.
I see that most people here are 'R' and we are 'I', but assuming all
of us Carters are somewhat related.

I will be able to get much more about the family, grandparents, dates,
and location and more when summer ends and people come home.
