The War Diaries can be found at
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/archivianet/020152_e.html.

Entering the term "Canadian Railway Troops" into the search engine, 22
results were returned. The War Diaries for the CRT in England (for all of
1918) and France (from April 1917 to May 1919) appear, as well as records
for the various Battalions of the CRT (1st to 13th Battalions), as well as
some other ancillary units.

Greetings from a cold, very wet and grey England.

The  War Diaries should help. They give details of daily  operations of  the
regiments. They make interesting reading as you can follow  their activities
over the days and weeks. They even contain maps of the trenches etc.I think
they were on the first site, I'm trying to remember where I got them.
Apparently a soldiers records are mainly still as paper records which are
slowly being digitized.  Copies of these  records can be ordered. These may
contain his service record showing when  and where he fought.

The diaries can be a big help.  We were actually able to put up a bit  of a
war bio for one of our Canadian men who died in France by using them when
updating a War Memorial on Find A Grave.
