BUTT, Clyde - Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital (Gander) on June 18, 2004 in his 88th year, Clyde Butt of Glovertown, formerly of North Island, Bonavista Bay. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife of 65 years, Gertie (Ralph); daughters: Edith (Bill) Feltham and Linda (Bill) Layden; sons: Gus (Ann) and Tom (Daphne); 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, life long friend Harry (Joyce) Pike; sisters-in-law: Vera Samson and Jean Abbott and a large circle of close friends. Funeral service was held at Faith United on June 21 with interment at Hillside Memorial Garden. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Oram's Funeral Home. - 06/26/04

DAWE, Norman - Passed peacefully away after a life long battle with Cystic Fibrosis on June 23, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's, Norman Dawe of Seldom, Fogo Island, aged 23 years. Predeceased by his grandparents, Norman Dawe and Vera (Dawe) Hicks. Leaving behind are his loving parents, George and Jean (nee Cull); brother and best friend Bradley (Rhonda Rowe); his girlfriend Christa Meade; grandparents: Clive and Doris Cull and Obediah Hicks; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends. At Norman's request, cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at St. Augustine's Anglican Church, Seldom, Fogo Island at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Carnell's Funeral Home. - 06/26/04

FLEMMING, Ethel (Smith) - a resident of Alliston, ON and formerly of Charlottetown, PEI, St John's, NL and Kitchener, ON passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, ON on Sunday, June 20, 2004.
Ethel will be missed by her husband of 37 years Phil, sons Darren (Donna), Jeff (April), granddaughters Holly and Summer, sisters Janet Knox and Dorothy Arsenault. Ethel was close to the hearts of her sisters and brothers-in-law, her nephews and nieces and will forever be remembered by everyone for her warm, pleasant smile.
Ethel always proud of her work ethic was employed during her career with the PEI Provincial Government, the Confederation Centre in Charlottetown, Charlottetown Kindergarten, Memorial University in St. John's, Newfoundland and Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. Ethel retired in 2001 to what she referred to as her "freedom 55".
Ethel will return "home" to PEI. Visitation will take place at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Charlottetown on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. A service will follow with a celebration of Ethel's life with interment in the Charlottetown Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to a reception following the graveside service at the Funeral Home.
If anyone wishes to make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in Ethel's name the family is appreciative. - 06/26/04

GOODWIN, Rose Helen (nee O'Reilly) - Passed away suddenly in Newburyport, Mass., U.S.A., Rose Helen Goodwin (nee O'Reilly) on Friday, May 21, 2004, age 70 years. She was born in Fox Harbour, P. Bay, NL on July 16, 1933. Predeceased by son: Raymond E. Goodwin, father: Thomas O'Reilly, mother: Annie (Collins) (O'Reilly) Bishop, and brother: Thomas O'Reilly. Leaving to mourn loving husband of 51 years, Raymond; three sons: Bruce of Hampton, N.H., Clay and wife Linda of Chester, Vt, Thomas and wife Audrey of Kingston, N.H.; one daughter: Patricia Goodwin Gray and Dan Glynn of Jacksonville, Fla.
