BRANDT _ Atle, born in Overmark, Finland on April 24, 1926, passed away
peacefully on April 29, 2005 at Ridge Meadows Hospital. He is survived by
his loving wife of 49 years, Margaret; his sons, Dave and Don (Debbie); 3
grandsons, Dillan, Landon, and Jaxon; brother Stig; brother-in-law Morris;
niece Lori (Brent); great-niece Lisa; great-nephew Scott; and niece Linda
(Ryan). A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2005
at Burquitlam Funeral Home, 625 North Road, Coquitlam. In lieu of flowers,

CAPLIN _ Sofie passed away peacefully on April 28, 2005 at Peach Arch
Hospital. Predeceased by her husband, and soul mate Helmut. Survived by her
loving sister-in-law, Anneliese, her devoted friend Rossi who was like a
daughter to her, and her dear friends Howard and Valerie. The care and
compassion they gave to Sofie was limitless. Sofie will be dearly remembered
by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Her infectious laughter and love of
life are what Sofie wanted to be remembered by. At her request, there will
be no funeral service. We miss you Sofie - you will be in our hearts
forever.

CHUBAY _ Curtis James a.k.a. "Kurt" October 17, 1983 - May 1, 2005. It is
through a stream of tears that we announce the passing of a very special
son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, after a valliant and courageous
fight with cancer. Kurt passed away peacefully in Surrey Memorial Palliative
Care, surrounded by his family. His warm heartedness touched many lives, an
engaging soul who will be missed by all who knew him. His unselfishness
allowed him to put the feelings of others before his own. Kurt had great
passion and love for his 1989 5.0 litre Mustang. Kurt spent many hours on
the ocean with his Papa Jimbo whom he valued and loved dearly. He was
predeceased by his father Glen in 2002. Kurt is lovingly remembered by his
mother; Brenda, Nan and Papa; James and Margaret Robson, Gramma; Leona
Chubay, Auntie Debby, Uncle Ed, Christina, Mary, Auntie Julie, Karson, Uncle
Joe, Derek and David and many valued friends. The family wishes to

passing of our Dad, Ted. Born November 13, 1930, he passed away peacefully
at home on Thursday, April 28. Dad faced his battle with cancer with

by his mother, Dorothy and son, Rick. Lovingly remembered by his longtime

of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend
Mary Edna Houghton (nee Carroll). Mary passed away peacefully on Friday,
April 29, 2005 at Mission Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family and
friends. She is survived by her sons Jim, Jack and Gerry (Sue);
grandchildren Clayton (Gillian), Jeff (Sonya) and Jason (Desi);
great-grandchildren Cole, Kyle, Genevieve and Jaden; brothers Walter and Les
(Harriet) Carroll; and Sandra, beloved friend, mother of Jason and Scott.
Mary was predeceased by Ralph, her husband of 52 years; brother Rob; sister
Margaret; and grandson Scott. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, May 3,
2005 at Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home, Mission, BC. Mary was born on July
15, 1915 in Davidson, Saskatchewan. Her childhood on the Prairies growing up
in a pioneering farm family left her with a deep and enduring love of family
, nature and gardening. Mary never stopped enjoying the outdoors, and up to
her very last days with us, took great pleasure in working with her son Jim
on his land. Her very early decision to become a schoolteacher arose out of
her insatiable curiosity and eagerness to help others learn about, and
explore the world; something she herself never stopped doing. She was a
passionate lawn bowler, curler and seamstress, as well as ardent fan of "The
Young and the Restless". As a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister,
grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary will be remembered for her
larger-than-life spirit, integrity, compassion and strength. "We love you! "

with his family in 1958. Served in the Methodist and United Churches in
England, Wales, Saskatchewan, Vancouver, Prince Rupert and Surrey, retiring
in White Rock in 1987. Survived by loving wife of 57 years, Alicia, daughter
Elizabeth (Rob) of Vancouver and William (Georgia) of Nanaimo and grandson
David. Besides his devotion to the ministry and his family, he was an avid
golfer and gardener who loved good music and fine literature. Service in
memory of Trevor at First United Church (Centre St. and Buena Vista Ave.,
White Rock) on Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 2 p.m. Reception to follow.

McRAE _ Dorothy Rose McRae passed away suddenly at home in Mission on
Monday, April 25, 2005 at the age of 81 years. She was predeceased by her
husband Don in 1995, brother Harry Smith in 2000 and his wife Helen in 2005.
Dolly (Nan) will be deeply missed by her daughter Carol (Bill) Groening, son
Gary (Linette) McRae, grandchildren Darren (Karen) Groening, Tracy (Brent)
Snipstead, Dan (Barb) McRae and Ian (Brigitte) McRae, and her
great-grandchildren Zack, Hannah and Braedon; sister Sib (Frank) Clease,

service was held on April 29 at Hatzic Cemetery. A Memorial Service &
Celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 20th, 2005 at St.

MOSCRIP _ C. Stuart, born in Gladstone, Manitoba, October 2, 1926, passed
away peacefully at the Peace Arch Hospital on April 29, 2005. By his side
were his wife Doreen, daughter Karen and son Jay. Predeceased by his son Ken
in 1987. Survived by one brother, Walter (Jean) of Gladstone, Manitoba, four
children, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Stuart had a 33
year career with CBC Radio and Television. Upon retiring from CBC in 1986,
he joined CTV for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Alberta. He then
joined NBC for the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea. Stuart loved his
retirement years spent at his second home on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii
volunteering as a docent on the USS Missouri, Honolulu Zoo, Sea Life Park
and Hanauma Bay. Our many thanks to Dr. J. Scott, Dr. Gayton, and the Peace
Arch Hospital Staff on the 5th Floor for their kindness and compassion. No

Rae, Hanna (Dederer)
RAE _ Hanna (nee Dederer). Our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
aunt, and special friend to many passed away on April 27, 2005 at the age of
89. Hanna was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 25, 1915, and later moved
to Medicine Hat, Alberta, where she met her beloved husband, Mac, who
predeceased her in 1983. Hanna leaves cherished memories for her daughters
Maxine Robertson (Bill), Linda Olson (Jess), Judy Rae and Karen Bannan
(Brian); her grandchildren RaeAnn, Susan, John, Danny, Nancy, Annemarie,
Scott, Erin and Brendan; and her great-grandchildren Arielle, Kieran, Erica,
Brigit, Jason, Amanda, Joey, Kyle, Steven, Noel, Hailey and Brian. Hanna
lived a very full life, raising her four daughters, working with her husband
at Rae's Hardware and Ric and Mac Furniture in Medicine Hat, and belonging
to several organizations and service groups, including the Quota Club,
Pythian Sisters, Eastern Star, Business and Professional Women, Christian
Women and Century House. She treasured the fifty summers she spent at the
family cottage in Cypress Hills Park in Saskatchewan. Hanna was a charming,
vivacious lady with a delightful sense of humour. She was a "social
butterfly" who loved to coffee daily with her friends, attend parties
(especially her birthday parties!), travel, and generally go anywhere she
could "meet and mingle". She truly touched the hearts of all her family, her
friends, and everyone she met. The family would like to extend their
heartfelt thanks to everyone who reached out to Mom and cared for her during
the past few years, especially Dr. John Yap, along with the compassionate
caregivers at Canada Way Care Centre in Burnaby and Queen's Park Care Centre
in New Westminster. A memorial service and tea will be held on Saturday, May
7th at 1 p.m. at Columbia-Bowell Funeral Home, 219 - 6th St., New
Westminster. Since Hanna believed flowers were for the living, donations
could be made to the B.C. Lupus Society, Suite 200, 1645 W. 7th Avenue,

Roberta (Brent), and 13 grandchildren. Doug provided a nurturing home to his
family and to any one who needed a place to stay. Born in Edmonton, AB, Doug
served 26 years in the Canadian Armed Forces starting in the World War II
years, therefore relocating his family to several Eastern and prairie
Canadian cities before firmly planting his roots for the last 33 years in
Ladner, BC. In addition to other service medals and awards, in 2002 he was
awarded Peace Keeping medals for his service over a one year Peace Keeping
mission for the UN in the Gaza Strip, Egypt. Doug was an avid dart player
and golfer, getting his last hole-in-one last year at the age of 79. El
Presidente served a double term as President of the Army, Navy and Air Force
Veterans Club #285. Doug was a dedicated Cub and Scouts leader for many

Ruth, Irene
RUTH _ - Irene Vera. Born January 19, 1920 in Vancouver. Died April 28, 2005
peacefully while receiving much appreciated and compassionate care from
Kiwanis Care Centre in North Vancouver. Predeceased by parents William
Lawrence Yule and Lily Jane Yule (Ferrier); siblings William Yule and
Margaret Clarke; and former husbands Percy Bath and Donald Ruth. Irene
graduated from John Oliver high school two years ahead of her age group. She
went on to study nursing at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria where she met
her first husband Percy. When they married she was required to leave the
nursing program (such were those times). Irene had been a hospital and home
care aid, head cashier, and book-keeper. She will be remembered for her
resilience, strong will power, and love of dogs - always having one as a
companion. An avid bowler and golfer; she also enjoyed ceramics and
painting; and was a former member of the Eastern Star and the Lions. Irene
had a keen and questioning mind and encouraged her children to be
independent thinkers. Irene will live on in the memories of her three
children and families: daughter Mukti Bonnie Bath, (Brian), grandson Kory
and great-granddaughter Faith; daughter Elaine Linda Bath (Patrick) and
grand-daughters Kimberley and Morgan; and son Stephen Bath (Marilyn) and
grandsons Liam, Trevor and Martin. A memorial service will be held at 2:00

SMITH _ Miriam Keay (nee Miller) 1929 - 2005 Miriam (Mim) passed away
peacefully on May 1, 2005, at the age of 76. She was born and spent many of
her formative years in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her
parents Jim and Evelyn Miller and her aunt, Dorothy Miller. Mim is survived
by her sisters Marilyn (Gordon) Laird and Ruth (Jack) Downs. She is also
survived by her children, Ron Smith (Debbie Gill), Passia Pandora, Kathy
(Bruce) Lepper, Sandy (Mike) Debolt, and Janet (Nick) White and her
grandchildren, Trisha, Carolyn, Kyle, Trevor, Brendan, Ian, Olivia and
Emily. Mim graduated as a nurse from the Vancouver General Hospital in 1951.
She was married to Dave Smith in 1952 and moved to Calgary and started a
family. During that time she was active in the Shell wives club where she
met many lifelong friends. In 1982 she moved to Victoria where she enjoyed
the milder climate and took great pride in her garden. For many years she
enjoyed going on cruises and met many wonderful people. Throughout her life
she enjoyed and excelled at many types of needlecrafts. The results of her
efforts have been enjoyed family, friends and charitable organizations. A
memorial service for Mim will be held on Friday, May 6th at 3:00 p.m. at
Sands Funeral Chapel, 1803 Quadra Street, Victoria, B.C. In lieu of flowers,
Mim requested that donations be made to the charity of your choice. The
family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors at the Royal Jubilee Hospital

TRISTRAM _ Gerda (nee KRAG), RN, peacefully on April 27, 2005, in her 89th
year. Predeceased by husband Gerald, brothers Niels and Basil, sisters
Bodil, Annette (Gardner) and Kirsten (Ormerod), and nephew Peter Ormerod.
Fondly remembered by nine nieces and nephews, twenty-one grandnieces and
nephews and eleven great-grandnieces and nephews. Born in Prince Albert,
Saskatchewan Gerda grew up in Vancouver and North Vancouver, and followed
sisters Bodil and Kay into nursing, graduating from Royal Columbian in 1938.
Remembered in North Vancouver as the doctor's nurse in the practices on
Lonsdale. Active in the Guild of St. Martin's Anglican Church, and with Red
Cross campaigns, and Meals on Wheels. Many thanks to the staff at The North
Shore Private Hospital. A memorial service and tea will be held at St.
Martin's Anglican Church, 195 East Windsor Road, North Vancouver at 1:00 pm

Wagner, Irene
WAGNER _ Irene (nee Holmes). While there is much thanksgiving for her life,
it is with great sadness that Irene passed away April 28, 2005 at Inglewood
Care Centre in West Vancouver with her loving family at her bedside. Born in
Yorkshire, England, she immigrated to Canada at age 2 with her mother Annie
Holmes (nee Dawson) and father Edwin Holmes. Predeceased by her loving
husband of 52 years, William (Bill) Wagner and her sister Mildred (Mickey)
Jones. Survived by sons Paul and Dal Wagner and daughter Trudi Kloepper.
Sadly leaving behind wonderful memories of family gatherings at Easter and
Christmas are grandsons Chris, Dean, Derek, Richard, Travis and
granddaughters Lianne, Anna and Danielle. At an even greater loss are her 8
great-grandchildren who will not get to know their special great-grandma.
Irene worked as a telegraph operator until she married her husband Bill. She
then raised 3 children while helping to build their company Wagner
Engineering Ltd., which manufactured Hydraulic Steering Systems and Auto
pilots for many of B.C's fishing fleets, yachts and commercial vessels. Long
time members of the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, their love for the sea
extended to numerous cruise ship excursions. Traveling extensively and
enjoying the Maui sunset gave great joy to her life. By her request, there
will be no memorial service as her loving family gathered on her 90th
Birthday several years ago in a celebration of her lifetime. Irene is now
once again reunited with her beloved husband Bill. Good-Buy for now Mom, all
our love Paul, Dal, Trudi.

WICHARUK _ Irene Charmaine of Westbank, B.C. passed away of a sudden heart
attack on April 27, 2005, at the age of 80 years. She was born in Romania,
May 29, 1924 and moved to Canada at the age of 6. Educated in Fort William,
Ont., she joined the Canadian Women's Army Corp. at the age of 16. She
served in Halifax during the Second World War and married Adam George
Wicharuk in 1949. In the Lakehead, she was an active business woman and
opened and operated Lakehead Stenographic Services. After many successful
years, she and her family moved to Richmond, B.C. in 1970 where she worked
as an executive secretary for B.C. Hydro. Pacific Western Airlines, Richmond
School Board and Richmond City Hall. In 1991 she retired and moved with her
husband to Westbank, B.C. During her life, she was a member of Altrusa,
Int., Toastmistress and the Spanner's Club of Westbank. She is predeceased
by her husband Adam, and survived by her daughter Patrice (Charlie Lake,
B.C.), son Alan (Vancouver, B.C.) and sister Elizabeth (Kenora, Ont.)
Memorial Services were held May 2, 2005 at Hansons' Arbor Westwood Funeral
