Subject: [CAHumboldt] Veterans in Historic Cemeteries
Date: Mon, 10 Nov 2003 20:51:43 -0800
Greetings,
On the eve of Veterans Day I've been reflecting on the many historic
cemeteries in which a vast number of our nation's veterans are still buried.
Many, many of those cemeteries are in sad states of repair and care with our
civil representatives having ignored their plight and condition for many
decades now.
As you spend your Tuesday with your co-workers, family or friends, please
remember your ancestors who fought for our nation. If you are able, please
go to a local historic cemetery and see if the cemeteries where our veterans
now rest in peace are in the kind of condition you believe they deserve.
If they are not in a well maintained cemetery, take the time to call your
local representative and ask that some attention be paid to the neglected
cemeteries where these veterans now lie for eternity. Ask them if they
would want their ancestors to rest in a place that looks so bad or if they
believe the resting places of our veterans should be so disrespected.
Please ask them to care, and to help us to show respect for the last "homes"
of our pioneer citizens and veterans.
Respectfully,
Sue Silver, State Coordinator
California Saving Graves
