A while back someone mentioned the existance of a Norddeutsche Verein. This was
a "club" or society in San Francisco for immigrant Germans primarily from
Schleswig-Holstein. My great grandparents Henry Lotz (1845-1899) and Geesche
Mohn (1845-1921) may have been members of this society. They came from
Schleswig-Holstein in 1871 and settled in Livermore, California. If there is an
archive for the Norddeutsche Verein I would be real interested.

Also, we have a family picture album filled with nameless people for the
Lotz/Mohn family. Most of the pictures not taken in Germany were taken at J.T.
Silva, 64 Third Street, S.F. If there is an archive for this studio, that would
be real useful as well. With my luck the studio and it's negative archive were
lost in 1906.

The good news on the Lotz/Mohn search is that I am corresponding with a cousin
in Hamburg, Germany who thinks he knows who some of the people were and of
course he knows the parish and where they all lived etc.
