My grandmothers maiden name is Frances BURZ who was born in NYC around 1889. Her married names are: Harnet and then Wood. She had a brother by the name of Peter BURR which leads me to suspect they americanized their last name. I know her parents were born in Poland as it was recorded in a 1930 census where her trail turns cold. Like yourself, I have run out of leads.
