Thelma Lorraine McHaffey Indianapolis, age 87, went to be with the Lord. Thelma died October 22, 2005 at Methodist Hospital. She was born July 9, 1918 in Rushville, Indiana and was the daughter of William and Goldie E. (Stark) Burgess. Thelma married John Richard McHaffey on March 9, 1941. They celebrated their "64th" Anniversary last March. Thelma and John lived at 2948 Kristen E. Drive for 50 years, moving a year and a half ago to Crawfordsville, Indiana to live with their daughter Kathy and her husband Don Owens. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 26 at 12:00 noon at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St., with visitation Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving her is her husband, John; sons, John Richard (Helen) McHaffey, Jr. of Crawfordsville and Orville E. (Jean) McHaffey of Indianapolis; Daughter, Katherine E. (Don) Owens of Crawfordsville; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces an!
d nephews. Preceding her in death are one great-grandson and three brothers; William, Nelson and Marvin Burgess. Thelma was a member of the Heather Hills Baptist Church.
