>From their tombstones in the Parish Cemetery in the hamlet of Arlington
north of Brookville:
Michael Baker d 26 Aug 1854, age 86y6m6d
Catharine wife of Michael Baker d 2 Jan 1859, age 85y9m23d
Their eldest child was born in August 1795, so a marriage of circa 1794 is
probable. They are not known to have lived anyplace except Somerset and
Montgomery Counties, moving to the latter in 1804.
A biographical sketch of Levi Baker in the 1882 History of Montgomery Co, OH
states his grandparents were Michael Baker born in Somerset Co PA and
Catharine Schmooker of the same State. Catharine is speculated as the
daughter of Jacob and Anna Schmucker of Somerset Co PA in Amish and Amish
Mennonite Genealogies, 1986, by Hugh Gingerich & Rachel Kreider. Michael &
Catharine's eldest son was named Jacob while their 3rd daughter was named
Anna, which gives some strength to the speculation aforementioned.
