thank you Bob Harter
In a message dated 06/16/10 13:33:43 Pacific Daylight Time, writes:
According to Sappington, "The Brethren in Virginia", page 327:
"In the southernmost part of Franklin County, some twenty miles south of
Rocky Mount, a section of the Antioch congregation was split off around the
beginning of the twentieth century to form the Snow Creek congregation. In
1910, this small group of about twenty-five Brethren built a church under
the leadership of J.O. Boone, a resident minister. Other ministers from the
Franklin County congregations assisted him in the church work. By 1956, when
the congregation changed its name to Boones Chapel, it had grown to a
membership of one hundred sixty."
Apparently the Antioch congregation planted a number of churches, but this
was the only one I could find that seemed to fit your description.
According to Sappington's index, J.O. Boone was John O. Boone. Now, there
was another John Boone who lived 100 years earlier. His wife was Elizabeth
Moyer and their daughter, Sarah "Sally" married David Harter in 1812 in
Montgomery (Floyd) County, VA. Does anyone know anything about him?
