I assume that the first book mentioned was by John Samuel Flory who had a long association with Bridgewater College [including serving as President]. He was my Grandfather Walter Samuel Flory's first cousin. His son John S. Flory, jr, who I still stay in touch with, turned 98 last month, and his daughter Margaret is also in good health [other children are deceased].

I'm pretty sure that both my father, Walter S. Flory, jr, and my Aunt, Kathrine Flory Blough (Mrs. Carmen G.) were on the Board of Trustees at Bridgewater College [both of them also graduated from there]. However, I really don't know what dates they served on the Board. Since both Daleville and Blue Ridge were consolidated into Bridgewater well before 1955, I have to assume this is a cumlative list of Board members - are Board members listed by date? Are either my father or Aunt listed?

Speaking of books....I just got a book that was my great-grandfather's,
"Builders of the Church of the Brethren" by John S. Flory copy right 1925,
Elgin Press. My great grandfather was Levi Abraham Bowman, a COB minister.
This little book has life stories of several leaders of the COB: Alexander
Mack, John Naas, Peter Becker, Christopher Sower, John Garber and Jacob
Miller, George Wolfe, John Kline, James Quinter, D.L. Miller and Wilbur
Brenner Stover. Since there are no COB churches here in Clarksville, TN I
have been raised in the Southern Baptist church so learning about the
leaders and the doctrine of the church is the reason I joined this message
board. The story on Alexander Mack doesn't give the names of his children
except for Alexander Mack, Jr who was the bishop of Germantown for 50 years.

I also got: "The German Baptist Brethren in Europe and America" copyright
1906, Elgin, Ill, Brethren Publishing House by Martin Grove Brumbaugh. I
have not read this book yet since it is 538 pages long.

The third book is "Brethren Education in the Southeast" by Paul Haynes
Bowman honoring the founding of Bridgewater College copyright 1955, printed
by Brethren Printing, Elgin , IL. This book has a list of the board of
trustees Bridgewater, Daleville and Blue Ridge colleges.
